ROM Library and Archives is open on an appointment basis only. Individuals wishing to consult materials in the ROM Library and Archives’ collections may book a research appointment via the ROM Library and Archives’ website. The Bishop White Committee Library, Egyptology Library, and West Asia Library remain closed; however, researchers may request materials from these collections for consultation when scheduling their appointment.

The mandate of the ROM Library & Archives is to support the collections and research of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). The ROM Library & Archives comprise of the Richard Wernham and Julia West Library, the Bishop White Committee Library of East Asia, and the Museum Archives. The Richard Wernham and Julia West Library has over 300,000 volumes, including 7,000 rare books, and subscriptions to more than 150 current journals and magazines. The Bishop White Committee Library of East Asia has about 70,000 volumes and 70 current journal subscriptions. The Museum Archives (1,200 linear ft.) maintains the historical records and documents relating to the ROM. Richard Wernham & Julia West Library: anthropology, archaeology, botany, Canadiana, decorative arts, entomology, fashion history, geology, herpetology, ichthyology, invertebrate zoology, mammalogy, mineralogy, museology, paleontology, textiles. Bishop White Committee Library of East Asia (including access to Egyptian and West Asia library collections): decorative arts of Asia, Asian archaeology, Islamic art and culture, and Egyptology. Museum Archives: records and documents relating to the institutional history of the ROM, including unpublished manuscripts and photographs, as well as over 150 fonds of personal papers relating to the history and collections of the Museum. The Museum Archives are located within the Richard Wernham and Julia West Library.
