Glossary of Literary Theory
A term used by Marxists to describe literature that accurately depicts
and reflects class conflict, that demonstrates the rectitude of the proletarian
cause, and that exposes ideological mystification. At its crudest and most
propagandistic, Socialist Realism documents bourgeois vices, proletarian
virtues, and the glories of the Soviet Union.
