FAST FACULTY FACT

In addition to the substantial contributions from our basic science departments, our clinical departments contribute 16,458 hours to teaching in years 1 and 2 (preclerkship) of the MD program.

CONVOCATION DAY 2003

The 2003 convocation of the Faculty of Medicine's MD, Radiation Sciences and Physical Therapy students will take place on Wednesday, June 11 at 2.30 p.m. As well, diplomas will be conferred on students graduating from our diploma programs. An honorary Doctor of Laws degree will be conferred on Terrence Donnelly (philanthropist) at this ceremony.

The day also features various informal graduation ceremonies:

·         Physical Therapy graduating students start the day at 10:30 a.m. with a convocation reception for graduates, guests and faculty in the quadrangle at the Isabel Bader Theatre at Victoria University (93 Charles Street). The program includes delivery of valedictory speeches and presentation of student awards. All faculty are invited to attend this pre-convocation reception, hosted by the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Alumni Association, and the convocation ceremony in the afternoon.

·         Doctor of Medicine program graduating students start the day at 10:30 a.m. with a pre-convocation ceremony at Convocation Hall. The program includes the graduates' recitation of The Revised Oath of Hippocrates, the class valedictory address, the presentation of awards and medals, and a speech by this year's guest speaker – James Rutka (Department of Surgery). All Chairs and interested Faculty members are welcome to attend the pre-convocation ceremony. A noon-hour luncheon will be served in the MSB cafeteria for graduates and guests.

·         (Medical) Radiation Sciences program graduating students and their families will have a post-convocation tea from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Hart House. Student awards will be presented at this time. Light refreshments will be served.

Further information on the course can be found in the Undergraduate Medicine Program Curriculum Directory at http://www.library.utoronto.ca/medicine/curric/m&n.htm.

Appointment as a Course Director will normally be for a five-year renewable term reporting to the Preclerkship Director, and Director of Curriculum, UME. The Course Director has responsibility for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Metabolism and Nutrition Course, in keeping with the overall UME curriculum goals and objectives,

Inquiries and/or applications, with a letter of interest and accompanying CV, should be submitted by July 4 to Jay Rosenfield, Director of Curriculum, attention Elizabeth Wardell, Curriculum Coordinator at elizabeth.wardell@utoronto.ca or room 2115A, Medical Sciences Building, 1 King’s College Circle, Toronto, M5S 1A8.
