Produced by BioMed Central, Critical Care Forum is a web site and electronic journal that “aims to improve the care of critically ill patients by acquiring, discussing, distributing, and promoting evidence based information.” Four types of articles appear:

  • Commentaries: short opinion pieces by specialists to highlight important issues including research, ethics, intensive care units, etc
  • Reviews: comprehensive and authoritative descriptions of aspects of critical care. Science reviews describe science that is yet to have a clinical impact; Bench-to-bedside reviews describe science underlying clinical situations; Clinical reviews describe purely clinical situations.
  • Research articles include all types of research into any aspect of intensive care and emergency medicine.
  • Reports provide comprehensive overview of the intensive care field by reporting on recently published papers, international scientific meetings, books, and websites. There are: synopses from 20 leading medical journals; meeting reports; book reports which evaluate both the content and usefulness of new books; and web reports describe and evaluate websites relevant to the critical care community.
