Marilena Liguori obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 2001. Although she pursued studies in urban/social geography and Italian, she maintained a keen interest for issues on an international scale. For this reason, in her final year of study she became a member of the G8 Research Group. She participated in the G-20 Summit in Montreal and the G8 Summit in Genoa, concentrating on Italy's role in the Summit process as well as on environmental issues. Her current interest areas include globalization and its challenges, civil society outreach, and development and poverty reduction.
