John Reibetanz

John Reibetanz was born in New York City, and grew up in the eastern United States and Canada. He studied at the City University of New York and Princeton University, and has written essays on Elizabethan drama and on modern and contemporary poetry, as well as a book on King Lear and translations of modern German poetry. He is a member of the League of Canadian Poets, and was a finalist for the 1995 National Magazine Awards.

He lives in Toronto with his wife and three children, and he teaches at Victoria College, where in 1989 he received the first Victoria University Teaching Award. His favourite non-literary pursuits are local history, contemporary art, and 1930s jazz.
