Top 20 Countries in Engineering

Friday, May 29th, 2009, a Thomson Reuters company (which also produces Web of Science, among other products) has recently released a report on the  Top 20 Countries in Engineering.  The report, which is based on the production of journal articles and citations to those articles, ranks Canada as number 7 on the list, with a rate of 4.39 citations per paper.   The information was collected on articles which were published between 1998 and 2008, and came from a bimonthly update of Essential Science Indicators

Service Changes: Fines and Renewals

As of May 11, 2009, the number of times you can renew your books and the fines charged on Short Term Loans at Engineering and Computer Science Library has changed.

Undergraduates are entitled to one two week loan, and three two week renewals, as long as no one else has put a hold on the item.

Faculty, graduate students, and staff are entitled to one six week loan, and three six week renewals, as long as no one else has put a hold on the item.

Fines will now be charged on short term loan material when the library is closed.   Short Term Loan fines are $0.50 per hour.  Please return your books on time to avoid library fines.  If you have any questions, please ask.

Other libraries may have different policies.  Please check with individual libraries for their policies regarding renewals and short term loan fines.

Victoria Day

Summer Hours

The summer hours for Engineering and Computer Science Library begin May 8, 2009.

Our hours of operation will be:

Monday-Thursday                                    8:30 am to 7:00 pm

Friday                                                       8:30 am to 6:00 pm

Saturday                                                  9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sunday                                                       closed

These hours are in effect May 8, 2009 to September 6, 2009.

The Government of Ontario has announced plans to update the Mining ActThe proposed changes to the Act will change how mining companies stake claims, consult with aboriginal groups, and deal with disputes, among other issues.  More information can be found at the Government of Ontario’s Newsroom.
